Photojournalistic
Wedding Photography
Some photographers
cringe at the thought of a client dictating what to shoot, But I
think sitting down and discussing in depth what images they want captured
and how only focuses me to create a visual record of the most important
day of THIER lives. These are the CLIENTS memories and getting to now
the couple and their personality as a couple helps to invest my emotions
when I am shooting. Knowing what is important to them and what they
want to memorialize helps to create a service and product that will
please the client. Every couple is different and the shooting style of
the Photographer needs to be flexible to fit the circumstances.
Professional Live Music Photography
The best music
photography is that
which is created by someone who knows what is like to be on stage in
front of hundreds or thousands of screaming fans, Someone that
has experienced the raw emotions and adrenaline of live music performance.
There are certain moments only a musician can anticipate. This is what
I bring to the camera when I shoot a live gig. I shoot
with a NIKON digital SLR with very fast wide angle and telephoto lenses
that excel at capturing images with available light. Flash can ruin
a great shot by modifying the environmental aspects of stage lights
and fog. The picture should represent exactly what the
visual experience was. Flash is not part of the visual experienced
by the fan so why would you want a photo that's ruined by light nobody
want to see anyway. Not to mention the aggravating effect Flash Photography
has to the performers.
I can create an environment that will create the ideal photographic circumstances
for a journalistic visual record of those special showcase gigs at the
venue you love to play.
Don't think any person with a point and shoot digital camera can
take pictures even close to those created by a life-long musician with a university
degree in Art and Photography. I can guarantee there will be no comparison.
A dazzling and very flashy light show can
also be provided, complete with motorized lighting effects, fog machine,
and Synchronization with live music.
-
Two
12 ft lighting trees each with 6 par 38 with separate controllers
-
Motorized
full room 360 degree lighting effects
-
pin spots
for special emphasis lighting
-
fog machine with
wireless activation or stage pedal
Price is negotiable based on lighting
needs, number of exposures and time involved and intended
usage. I retain all copyrights and generally grant exclusive rights
for music photography of local performers. Photography used for
CD covers and national distribution is an agreement of a different
nature.

A Bio-blog about
me,
and my "Jack of all Trades" background
I
grew up in Chula Vista, California, a single child of a single mom.
We lived next door to my grandparents and I was lucky enough to know
them into my mid twenties. My grandfather was a Master Carpenter, among
other things, he built "Grandfather
Clocks from scratch! So I grew up learning FIne Carpentry. In sixth grade
my grandmother gave me a guitar for my birthday and "LSS" ,
I was forming my first band in ninth grade and was playing School Dances,
and the ever famous backyard Keg Parties. Bye the time I was out of high
school I was playing bars.
Approximately 13 yrs was spent chasing the elusive record contract, Playing
and touring the west coast club circuit between San Diego, L. A.
and San Francisco. In summary, I lived the Rock and Roll lifestyle
into my early thirties having s fair degree of success. I headlined world
famous clubs like The Whiskey A-go A-go, The Roxy, and the Troubadour
to name but a few.
Not
being lucky enough to be in the "right place at the right time" I got a little tired
of all the sacrifice that accompanies dedicating oneself to 3 or
4 other musicians and chasing the collective dream. That's when the DIGITAL
REVOLUTION was born. I purchased one of the first Cassette Format 8 Track
Mixer / Recorders by TASCAM and
began my love affair with the art of the" HOME RECORDING STUDIO" and
transitioned into a solo songwriter / composer and after 10 years the
technologies are such that the need to buy studio time to record a
demo is obsolete for those with the skills and abilities to learn the
science of Audio Engineering, which I am well suited.
The music on my SOLO
MUSIC page is representative of the endless possibilities in the
digital domain and Computer based multitrack recording. 3 or 4 thousand $$ can
set up a substantial home studio that can produce well above CD quality.
Below is a portion of my home studio environment, Mixer with dual
19" screens and equipment racks to the left and right. Its a retreat
when escaping the world to write a song.

At
35 yrs old, after a failed marriage and day-job after day-job, I made
the rather intimidating decision to seek a college education. A very
early class in JAVA programming allowed me to realize that I "detest
computer languages" and the logical , left brain thinking that
is required. Since
I always was a pencil and Ink artist , always designs Band Logos
and flyers etc., Graphic Design was an obvious choice for something
I would enjoy and look forward to doing. The "Creative Process" in
writing music or designing a logo is virtually the same, the only
difference is the medium for output of the personal expression any
art conveys. The Graphic Design major has ended up being an extension
of the broader Artist I already was / am.
The discovery of what I am capable of has been a quasi spiritual awaking
for me and I am eagerly chasing the last couple classes to earning my
degree in ART / Graphic Design (and a minor in photography) from SAN
DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY.
The various PORTFOLIOS contained in this website are the culmination
of 4. 1/2 years of work, learning, and
the blood, sweat and tears that go with it! While I have no doubt
it isn't as accomplished as a Veteran Graphic Designer it will be soon
enough. I am always working on adding to it and swapping in the latest
and greatest of my design, photographic and songwriting creations.
If you are just surfing the web or actively seeking a graphic designer
for your business needs please bookmark my site and check back for new
content. I WELCOME any and all feedback for those in related field so
I may continue to improve and refine my ability to connect with that
part of my soul where where the imagination and the creative process
resides.
The true universal language ar those that are un spoken... the visual
and auditory arts. MUSIC and ART can convey universal ideas common to
all human beings, and personal expression in that language is rooted
in history dating back to the earliest of imagery painted by cavemen
in the Lescaux Caves in france, The ability to express ourselves is how
we define ourselves and our place in the universe and hopefully someday
a far off people of a far off planet will discover they were not alone
in the universe and discover all the wonders we have created in our brief
time alive and part of the cosmos.
Here is another photo from back in the day, Taken by David Bowie's
personal tour photographer ! As Wayne and Garth say......"PARTY ON
DUDE
